Are you interested in learning more about life in the shoes of a trauma surgeon at DHMC? Would you like to gain a better perspective on the student experience at Geisel? If so, come to the Nathan Smith Society's "Dinner with a Doc" featuring Dr. Martin and Dr. Rhynhart from DHMC, as well as Geisel student and Dartmouth ’05 Mike Lauria.

The dinner will be held on Sunday, August 6th from 6 pm - 8 pm in Haldeman 125.

Dr. Kurt Rhynhart: is the director of the Trauma Program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical center and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Geisel School of Medicine. Dr. Rhynhart graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1996 and completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston before joining Dartmouth’s Surgical Critical Care team in 2009. Currently, he is a general surgeon and specializes in critical care medicine, trauma, and acute surgical care.

Dr. Eric Martin: is a general surgeon at Dartmouth Hitchcock and joined the team in 2011 after graduating from University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2005 and completing his residency at DHMC in 2010. Additionally, he was a fellow at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center from 2010-2011. His specialties are in critical care medicine and general surgery, and he is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Geisel School of Medicine.

Michael Lauria '05: attended Dartmouth College as an undergrad, graduating with a degree in Physical Biochemistry and Spanish and accumulating work experience working outside school as a Firefighter/EMT. After leaving Dartmouth, he enlisted in the Air Force in July 2005, completed the rigorous Pararescue (PJ) training pipeline, and served at the 321st Special Tactics Squadron, RAF Mildenhall, UK, Air Force Special Operations Command. In October 2012, he returned to New Hampshire after accepting a position as a Critical Care and Flight Paramedic for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART) based out of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.  Currently, Michael is enrolled at the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine and continues to work per diem at the DHART program.
