I was at Quincy Bog yesterday afternoon as well and saw the duck with 3 ducklings. I wondered if it might be a Teal, but from the picture it looks like it was a Mallard. The volunteer may have had the same thought.
I wondered about the lone duck. He was bobbing his head forward and back while swimming and had a light head with black on top and a black horizontal stripe through the eye. Young Mallard, perhaps?
Did see at least one female Wood Duck.

Thanks!
