A few weeks ago a strange looking purple finch appeared in my yard. It had a yellow patch under its bill that I had not seen before. It was back today with 4 other purple finches. And one of them was ever stranger looking. The patch was larger and the bird had a very yellow-orange tint. If anyone has any ideas if these are anomalies or within a normal variation in markings, I would like to hear your opinions.
