Dave,

A number of years ago, an adult female gos chased my barred rock hen into
the garage. I stood in a garbage pail, mid-garage, tamping down the trash.
The hen dove into a coiled garden hose in the corner of the garage and the
goshawk banked around me—I felt the rush of air off the hawk (and it was a
rush, for the hawk was only a few feet away from me)—and flew out the other
bay, landed in the driveway maple, and remained there long enough for my
boys to check her out. Then, she bolted. The hen for her part, stayed in
the garden hose for hours.
