December 2017 RADG and Holiday Networking Event

"The Federal Budget, Increasing Political Polarization, and other

Policy Challenges for Research Universities"

Although the current fiscal year technically ended on October 1st, Congressional action on the 2018 federal budget is far from complete.  At the same time, the intense political polarization that exists in Washington D.C. and throughout the country is making it difficult for the Congress to take other meaningful legislative actions. This session will provide insights on the current fiscal and political environment in which key budget and research policy decisions are being made.  It will focus on the status of FY2018 budget and appropriations bills, the longer-term budget outlook for science, and other key research policy issues pertaining to issues such as facilities and administrative (F&A) costs, tax, immigration, and regulatory reform which could negatively or positively impact the health of the government-university partnership.
