I birded the Mystery Trail at the UVD this am…..pretty busy.

 

As I crossed the bridge, I flushed a thrush.  Not a robin. Always good to look….. Wood:  no.  Hermit:  no, rufous tail, coloring  wrong.

 

Veery ?......no, wrong color, not enough spots (had great looks at one along the road as I was leaving).       So…. this was Swainson’s.  No vocalizations. Interesting olive/ gray color. But the face color and pattern are distinct.

 

                                Bit of an eye ring, a brownish/ yellow cheek lines.  More of an altitude, boreal forest bird….but hay, they migrate.

 

VaRa at the pond, doing its “tick-it, tick-it” song.   3 Alder Flycatchers at the pond.

 

No. Parula, Am. Redstarts and Yellow warblers about.

 

No. Waterthrush singing along the river by the bridge.

 

Good to be out.
