Sorry to "taint" this sharing site with non-bird observations, but, couldn't resist.... this evening, a baby red squirrel appeared on our deck... maybe 4.5" long, from nose to tail end, a miniature adult, perhaps a third the size of an adult, and cute, cute, cute. And it acted exactly like and adult red squirrel, jumpy and quick and even tried to ascend the metal pole that holds our feeders, but it was not big enough to get it's legs around it. I'm 62 (almost), and have often asked- Have you ever seen a baby squirrel?, as a sorta of rhetorical question about the mysteries of the world, and now I have!
    Thanks for your forbearance,
    John Quimby
