Traveling today from Hanover to Lyme on VT's US Route 5, the season's high count, 120+/- Canada geese, was observed just north of the Lyme Bridge. Also on Monday, at Hanover's Ledyard Bridge, 60+/- Canadas were observed on the flats created by TransCanada's draw-down of water via the Wilder Dam.

Since last Thursday, the Canada goose observations on the Connecticut have ranged from a Friday, flock of 12 to today's Lyme 120 +/- count.

The birds are moving north; hope, springs eternal.
