Breaking into the Biotech/Pharma Industry

Breaking into the Biotech/Pharma Industry

Monday, March 20, 9-10am in DCAL

Please join us for a workshop with Kenneth Skinner from Harvard about breaking into biotech. Biotech and pharma firms have recently initiated professional development programs geared towards exposing researchers and scholars to various areas of the private sector. We will discuss these programs and opportunities to enter the biotech/pharma industry from a scientific and business standpoint.

Bio: Kenneth Skinner is from Newark, NJ and graduated from Morehouse College with a biology degree. He is currently a chemical biology PhD candidate researching how anesthetics modulate ion channels. He enjoys mentoring, teaching, and identifying professional development opportunities for students and researchers. As a former cross-country runner, Ken likes marathon training in his free time.

In the Path to Putnam program, you will gain hands-on experience in the skills required to conduct complex quantitative and qualitative research and commercial analysis. Under the guidance of a Putnam Life Sciences Consultant, you and a team of other Path to Putnam members will break down a realistic commercial strategy problem and present a synthesized recommendation to Putnam partners and consultants. Role of the Life Sciences Consultant
Putnam hires PhD and Post-Docs who have a passion for the life sciences, an active interest in commercial strategy and the business side of healthcare into the Life Sciences Consultant position. As a Life Sciences Consultant and key member of Putnam’s team-based approach, you will help identify critical issues, develop major analytical components and help construct the ultimate conclusions and recommendations for our clients. You will acquire a deep understanding of advanced programs and tools to successfully conduct complex quantitative and strategic analyses. PhDs/Post-Docs are expected to hit the ground running, quickly mastering a steep learning curve in order to master the core skills required to optimize commercial strategies for our clients.
