* Externships for Graduate Students *

Hello Graduate Students,

I am writing to tell you about a great opportunity to connect with
graduate alumni while gaining exposure to a possible career path. Over
one hundred alumni from across the United States and beyond have
signed-up to host a graduate student for one day during the month of
December (or another arranged time) at their place of work. I have
listed the positions, companies, and locations where these graduate
alumni work at
http://graduate.dartmouth.edu/sites/graduate_studies.prod/files/graduate_studies/wysiwyg/externship-contacts.pdf.
Once you have looked at the possible externship options, graduate
students may go to https://dartmouth.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_dhXMKEcj6fKRurr
and sign-up to participate in the program and list their top three
choices of externships. Match-ups will be done on a first come first
serve basis. Once the matches have been made, I will let you know who
your externship host will be and how to proceed from there. Please make
sure to sign-up by Monday, November 14.

If you do not see any positions of interest to you, I encourage you to
go to the Dartmouth Career Directory http://alumni.dartmouth.edu/alumnicareers
to identify possible graduate alumni. You could email the grad alum
yourself explaining the grad externship program or have me invite him/her
to join in the program.

Last year over 40 graduate students participated in the program. Both
graduate students and alumni thought it was an excellent experience!

Cheers,
Kerry

PS: Please note the Graduate Studies Office cannot cover your costs for
travel etc... Make sure you will be able to travel to the location (or
will be there for the holiday break) before you sign-up. Or you may
arrange to skype with the grad alum.

a 4 yr college degree)

Are you the first in your family to go to college? If so, then perhaps
navigating graduate school has its share of joys
and challenges.

Come enjoy lunch and talk to other first-generation college graduate
students about their experiences.

* Gear Up for Research *

Gear Up for Research- November 18 @ DHMC

Join us at Gear Up to get the information you'll need to be successful
in your research. Gear Up will be held Friday, November 18th, from 10:30am-12:30pm,
in Auditoriums A-D at DHMC.

Gear Up is an information fair that brings together entities that
support research at Dartmouth and DHMC. It is here that researchers
including faculty, residents, nurses, students, and postdocs, have the
opportunity to learn about services, meet key people, ask questions, and
get answers. We have invited more than twenty-five departments to
showcase their services; such departments include the Committee for the
Protection of Human Subjects, the Library, the Dartmouth Institute,
SYNERGY, and Laboratory for Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology (CGAT).
A full list of participating departments can be found at: http://sites.dartmouth.edu/gearup/

Gear Up for Research is made possible by generous support from Dartmouth
SYNERGY: Clinical and Translational Science Institute and is organized
by the Dartmouth Biomedical Libraries.

Be sure to stop by anytime between 10:30 and 12:30. Refreshments will be
served. We look forward to seeing you November 18th!
