Faculty are invited to participate in a two-day workshop on motivational interviewing, July 25 and 26, 2016 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in Collis 101.

MI is a collaborative communication style for strengthening a person's motivation and commitment to change. This evidence-based approach has broad application for working with students inside and outside the classroom. Through this evocative style, professors can inspire students to become active participants in their learning and problem-solving. The method sets up a learning environment based on mutual respect and collaboration, while empowering students to process information and make behavioral decisions that are in line with their goals and values. The technique can also be used to give performance feedback, address problem behaviors like missing class, or navigate difficult conversations. The training is open the entire Dartmouth community. Facilitated by Caitlin Barthelmes. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. R.S.V.P. to Meghan Liegel<http:[log in to unmask]>
