The pair of Cooper’s we observed last year returned to the area. Discovered this morning that six(!) chicks had hatched. There were three for a number of days, the first group having hatched about 8 to 7 days ago. With a long intermission, I thought that was it, but here is an image of all six huddled in the cool Monday air, with the female adult observing closely. It may be that some hatched yesterday, as weather disallowed close observation, but it may have happened this morning.
