Tonight at 9:15 pm in a field near Marton and Pond Roads in Windsor, VT, Spring Peepers were calling along side American Toads, while Gray Tree Frogs joined in briefly from the shrubs in The Turkey Lot to the north . The fields were full of Wilson's Snipe and American Woodcock making their own noise. Coyotes were howling on the south side of Marton Road toward Hunt Road, while barred owls called from above turkey-hunters-imitating-Barred-Owls to roost Wild Turkeys. In an area of the field close me ran two little dogs wearing mini cowbells and barking back at the Coyotes to establish our temporary and transient territory and protect me from any and all of these nocturnal noise makers. Don't believe anyone who tells you that Windsor has a dull night life. Michael.
