Professor Len Reitsma is to speak on “Sex, Lies and Videotape, Canada Warbler Style” at 7:00 PM on Monday February 8, 2016, in the Mayer Room of the Howe Library in Hanover, NH, as arranged by the Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon. This illustrated program, free and open to the public, covers a 12 year study of a Canada Warbler population nesting in Canaan, NH. Since the start of the 21st century, populations of this species have regionally been declining with annual loss in the 6% range, thus providing incentive to clarify causes of this reduction in one of northern New England’s most colorful warblers.

Subsequent to receiving his doctorate from Dartmouth, Prof. Reitsma has since 1992 been on the faculty of Plymouth State University, where he received distinguished teaching and distinguished scholarship awards in 2005 and 2015, respectively. He’s been studying migratory songbirds for nearly 30 years both on the temperate breeding grounds and in the tropics.
