Monday, August 4th, 6-7pm: Dartmouth Film Society Meeting (Wilson 205) 
The Dartmouth Film Society is a student organization that meets once a week to discuss the films playing at the Hopkins Center, debate important issues (like whether Ghostbusters is the best film of all time), write program notes, critique new movie trailers and vote on series proposals for future terms. You don’t have to be an expert - you just have to have an opinion!

The Digital Lab in the Black Family Visual Arts Center is now offering summer hours! This week it will be open Monday 3-5:30pm and 6:30-8:30pm, Tuesday 4-5:30pm, Wednesday 3-5:30pm and 6:30-8:30pm, and Thursday 4-5:30pm. Stay tuned for upcoming workshops. In the Digital Lab you can learn about working with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and other photo/video editing software. 1. Game Studies Research Assistant for Fall/Summer 2014:  Tiltfactor (http://www.tiltfactor.org) at Dartmouth College is looking for someone to help us conduct off-site studies and facilitate local programs. Work with our lab and our students in fun settings! An interest in games is helpful, but not required. What is required is an enthusiastic personality, a curious mind, good communication skills, and reliable habits we can count on. Will need to provide own transportation for off-site visits and have a flexible time schedule. 2. Artist/Illustrator Position for Fall/Summer 2014: Looking for student with drawing/illustration experience to work on various projects at Tiltfactor Lab including original game illustrations (figures, objects). 3. Digital Production Student Assistant for Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer/Interim: Responsible for scanning material for digitization and performing quality assurance reviews. Computer and technical ability with knowledge of digitization process desired. 4. Princeton Film Festival Short Film Submission Request: The Princeton Film Festival, an entirely student-run film and screenwriting competition and festival hosted annually at Princeton University in late March, is requesting submissions for their first annual festival! The goal of the Festival is to promote and celebrate promising writers and filmmakers and introduce the community to new film concepts, ideas and points of view. Winning applicants will be awarded a conversation with a production or distribution company to discuss the prospect of distributing their short film or bringing a wonderful script to life on the screen. Categories for submission include Short Narrative Film, Short Experimental Film, Short Documentary, Short Animated Film, Short Horror Film, and Short Screenplay. The submission period opens August 1, 2014, and closes January 15, 2015; applicants will be notified of their acceptance by March 1, 2015. The Festival is scheduled to take place on March 28, 2015. Please find the submission form on our website and post all mail/DVD copies to 2078 Frist Campus Center, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, 08544. Selected applicants are welcome to attend the Festival in March.

*New Film and Media Studies Course*
14F at 2A, U.S. Broadcast Journalism and Electronic Journalism History

The history of broadcast and electronic journalism in the United States, from telegraphy to the internet, focusing on the development of and changes to its fundamental relation to the public sphere. We will pursue a contextualized historical understanding of the formats, aesthetics, economics, and industrial organization of these media, in addition to case studies of specific debates, events, and individuals that have conditioned the impact of these media on society. We will invite speakers who have worked in these media industries and/or these histories. Students will be expected to create a digital video project and to write analytical papers, including a research paper.
