I also noticed the wear in the feathers and my opinion was that this was possibly a result of the birds long distance flight (and this would also explain possibly why the bird is so "tame").

In my pictures, which I will share when I get them downloaded, one side of the bird looked a little roughed up, and the leg on that side looked different-sort of scaly. Could it be injured?  I don't know this species so have no reference points. It flew easily into a low tree.....
