I work at VINS for the winter and have handled a few calls about this particular Mallard in the Windsor Price Chopper parking lot.

It has become habituated to getting food from shoppers, even though there is open water just across the road.  We have been advising people to stop feeding it and be careful when driving through the parking lot.  Giving it food only reinforces this negative behavior and the bread and junk food it has been eating can lead to more severe health problems.

Please watch out for this bird if you visit the parking lot and let people know that they can call our wildlife hotline at 802.359.5000 x510 if the duck gets injured.

The Windsor Price Chopper parking lot along Route five contained one brown duck waddling among vehicles and one store employee skipping after it vocalizing with a non-threatening display at 4:00 pm today. The employee was an adult in Price Chopper plumage, I don't know more about the duck. Michael.
