I watched what I thought was a female purple finch singing today, and
remember this subject coming up before, but can't remember whether I found
out that female purple finches do indeed sing, or if male purple finches
take a  year to get adult plumage?  I read that females can sing a shorter
song, but this seemed fairly long to me!
