Wayne Benoit and I drove down to Windsor to assess activity at Runnemede. The clear highlight was the number of northern cardinals present. We had a firm count of sixteen with the possibility there were a few more.

Interestingly, almost all the avian activity was in the stretch of trees, scrub and wild sumac bordering the road running from the park entrance to the field. We saw nothing in the vegetation bordering the field. Three crows were feeding in the field. A raven and two crows passed overhead.

Runnemede's main body was iced over. A solitary common merganser was observed on open water in the lake's
northerly extension.
