Hi Michael and Marianne, Be careful what you ask for. I had a vociferous male Pileated attack my house repeatedly in northern Florida doing no little damage to the siding. I guess it was all hormones as I couldn't find any bugs in the cedar wood and he probably saw himself in the house windows. After shooing him away over a week he took on my VW van out in the pole barn and pecked out both side view mirrors. Perhaps a Cracker subspecies? Good luck, Alan Keitt Hartland On Nov 21, 2013, at 12:00 AM Thu325, UV-BIRDERS automatic digest system wrote: > > Date: Wed, 20 Nov 2013 19:46:43 -0500 > From: Marianne and Michael Walsh <[log in to unmask]> > Subject: Pileated Woodpeckers > > We have had a very vocal and active pair of Pileated Woodpeckers around our house and road. Last Sunday, the male was eating berries in a bush next to our driveway. I hope they stay for the Christmas Bird Count. > > Marianne and Michael Walsh > 151 East Camp Hill Road > Weathersfield, VT 05156-9629 **************************************************************** To post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] Set your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages.
