From 7:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday August 17, 2013, a bird walk arranged by the Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon and led by George Clark is be held along the western side of the Connecticut River from the Ledyard Bridge northward to the Ompompanoosuc River and vicinity. We'll be especially looking for migrating birds. This bird walk is free and open to the public. Bring binoculars and spotting scopes if available. Participants should be prepared to walk as much as a mile over fairly level but uneven and possibly damp terrain. In case of thundershowers or heavy rain, this walk will be canceled. Participants are to meet at 7:00 AM in the commuter parking lot in Norwich, VT, at the western end of the Ledyard Bridge. To reach that parking lot from Hanover, NH, go west across the Ledyard Bridge, and immediately turn right onto River Road in Norwich. Then take the immediate first left into the parking lot. After looking for birds around Ledyard Bridge, we plan to carpool northward with stops at locations favorable for finding birds.
