Had an odd quartet "singing" at dawn this morning: Barred owl, the woodcock, turkey gobbling and the mallards quacking... A funny combo of songs compared to the usual feeder birds warming up for spring :o)

Fox, Am tree and song sparrows along with building numbers of juncos.. Happy to see the fox sparrows, as last spring they passes us without stopping.

Yesterday a female, second year coopers hawk landed on the deck, we were all in the kitchen 3 feet away from it... nice close up. she had my chickens froze up hiding in a bush with no leaves. Though a full grown laying hen would be a stretch for a hawk her size.... they didn't know that! Funny to watch.

I've been seeing/hearing Golden-crowned Kinglets along Mink Brook for the past couple weeks. But I was pleased last Friday though to hear a Ruby-crowned Kinglet singing too, as well as a Brown Creeper. Kyle KittelbergerDartmouth
