The next installment of the Windsor County 2013 Birding Quest bird walk will take place Saturday, April 13 beginning at 7:30 AM at Lake
Runnemede in Windsor, VT. Join George Clark and other County Quest enthusiasts as they seek out transient waterfowl and newly arriving, migratory song birds. If time allows, another nearby Windsor site also will be visited with the event's ending time around
10:30 AM. Directions to Lake Runnemede are below. This bird walk is free and open
to the public. Bring binoculars and scopes if available. Participants
should be able to walk a mile over fairly level, but sometimes uneven,
terrain.
Directions: From Exit 9 off I-91, turn south on
US Route 5 towards Windsor. After going about 3 miles southward on Route
5, look for the Back Forty guns and ammo store on the left, with a Price
Chopper supermarket just beyond, also on the left. The walk will begin
at 7:30 AM. Meet at the park entrance next to a long driveway directly across Route 5
from the Back Forty store. Please do not block or drive
into the driveway, vehicular use of which is reserved for local
residents. Parking is available along Route 5, but be sure your site is
legal.
Carpoolers from towns around the Hanover/Norwich will leave from the River Road commuter parking lot in Norwich by the
Ledyard Bridge at 7:00 AM that morning. Vehicles are scheduled to return
to the Norwich commuter lot by 11:00 AM.
