Two adult bald eagles were seen at 10:45 this morning out on the ice midway across the Connecticut River opposite Wilder WMA area on River Rd. Interestingly, this was the exact spot where three bald eagles (two on the ice and one on an osprey platform) were sighted on January 30. At that time the two eagles (thought to be juveniles) out on the ice, were apparently drinking water through a hole in the ice. The lighting that day was very poor, but I did not see a carcass on which they could have been working. The same seemed true today; with no carcass visible, it appeared as if they were drinking through a hole in the ice.
