The highlight of a trip between Wilder Dam and Kendall Station had to be a Song Sparrow at a feeder by the red house just across the RR tracks at Kendall. Also there were 4 Am. Tree Sparrows and 30 Am. Goldfinches, among the usual suspects. 21 Mallards and 3 Am. Black Ducks in the small area of open water by the bridge before the tracks. Little open water on the river above the dam, not a single bird to be found, and only 2 Hooded Mergansers below the dam (no eagle). I scanned fields at Killdeer and Farrell farms, along Hogback Road, and at Campbell Flats, where the day's only raptor appeared, an adult Red-tailed Hawk. Someone has to find a Snowy Owl in the Upper Valley! Chris -- Chris Rimmer Vermont Center for Ecostudies P.O. Box 420 Norwich, VT 05055 802-649-1431 ext. 1 http://www.vtecostudies.org
