This is a repeat notice that a bird walk in the Vermont County Bird Quest series for Windsor County is to be held from 7:00 to 9:30 AM on Saturday July 16, 2011, to seek breeding birds and their young around Lake Runnemede in Windsor, VT. Road and carpooling instructions are below. George Clark and Chris Rimmer are to lead. This bird walk is free and open to the public. Participants should be prepared to walk up to two miles over uneven and possibly damp terrain. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Bring binoculars if available. In the case of steady heavy rain or thundershowers, the walk will be canceled. Road and carpooling instructions: From Exit 9 off I-91, turn south on Route 5 towards Windsor. After going about 3 miles southward on Route 5, look for the Back Forty guns and ammo store on the left, with a Price Chopper supermarket just beyond, also on the left. This walk will begin at 7:00 AM by the entrance to a long driveway directly across Route 5 from the Back Forty store. Please do not drive into that driveway, vehicular use of which is reserved for local residents. Parking is available in places along Route 5, but be sure your site is legal. The Price Chopper lot, near the starting point, has been a favorite for birders who shop there when birding in the vicinity of the lake. Carpoolers from towns around the Hanover/Norwich area are to leave from the River Road commuter parking lot in Norwich by the Ledyard Bridge at 6:30 AM that morning. **************************************************************** To post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] Set your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages.
