I have had hundreds of redpolls feeding daily at my sunflower seed and thistle feeders....they have been here for all of 2011.....while photographing the feeding frenzy yesterday I captured a photo of one "redpoll" with a different color head.....this bird had the red cap but the cheeks were pure white, and on the neck/chest (where the others have black), this bird appears to have white (chin) and then pale red.....the remainder of the plummage was exactly as the rest of the redpolls.....I put three pictures up on my FB page (judy lombardi)...the white bird is the 2nd pic......would love to know what the knowledgeable birders have to say about this" abnormality"....thanks
