Secondly, I am very pleased to announce that the next Treasurer of IALLT will be Kristy Britt of the University of South Alabama in Mobile and that the President-Elect of IALLT will be Harold Hendricks of Brigham Young University! Most of you likely know Kristy. She was one of the "triumverate" who helped IALLT in Atlanta (2009) be such a successful conference. Not only is she from Southern Alabama but she has a Master's from the University of Calfornia at Santa Barbara. She certainly likes the ocean! Our current treasurer and legendary curmudgeon, Ron Balko, is already planning on training her to say "NO" to any request for money. Knowing, Kristy, I'm sure she's already listening... Most of you likely know Harold, too, but for new members, let me say that Harold will be a great President-Elect and eventual President (starting in 2013). Harold has been a member of IALLT almost as long as there has been an IALLT. He hosted the last FLEAT several years ago (joint meeting between IALLT and the Language and Educational Technology [Association of Japan]). He has done a wonderful job as Conference Advisor (helping find conference sites, visiting possible host sites, and making recommendations on their selection) for the past several years. And hmm....since Harold will be President in 2015, which is IALLT's 50th Anniversary maybe this conference should be a FLEAT, in, say, Hawaii and since BYU has a campus there...? Very best to all, virtual hugs, and live hugs in Irvine in June! P.S. I'll be contacting the Board and Council for nominations for awards. However, if any of you would like to send me nominations for the "up and coming" newer members who have shown promise in leadership for IALLT (Henderson Award) or publications (Sheppard Award), please send them on. Also if there are any members retiring this year who should deserve the Liftetime Service Award, I need to know that, too. Oh, the call is still out for the Showcase Award. P.P.S. The new IALLT web site got a nice note on page 60 of the current issue of ACTFL's "The Language Educator". P.P.P.S. For those of you who notice that the IALLT Board, as of June, will have three of six members from Alabama and wonder if Alabama will be taking over IALLT? Answer is, it already has. However, since Stacey is an Auburn fan and Kristy is a U. of Alabama (as well U. of S. AL) fan, I get to moderate since I'm a Samford fan only. *********************************************** LLTI is a service of IALLT, the International Association for Language Learning Technology (http://iallt.org/), and The Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning (http://www.languageconsortium.org/).
