Today Ed Hack and I looked for birds in eastern Windsor County to the
south of Hartford, VT. Some highlights included 45 Mallards, a
Cooper's Hawk, and a Belted Kingfisher on the eastern side of Lake
Runnemede in Windsor. Wild Turkeys were found along Thrasher Road in
Weathersfield (4 birds), at Weathersfield Bow (3 birds), and along
Rice Road in Hartland (10 birds). A flock of 26 American Robins was in
Windsor along Route 5 not far from the Windsor Industrial Park, and an
additional robin was along Thrasher Road in Weathersfield. Northern
Mockingbird was seen both at Springfield Meadows and in Ascutney. Two
American Tree Sparrows were along Route 5 near the Windsor Industrial
Park. Two Snow Buntings were in an area where weeds had been exposed
by snow plowing at a farm along Route 5 in Weathersfield Bow.
