The first Windsor County bird walk in the 2011 Vermont County Birding Quest is to be in Wilder from 8:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday January 22, 2011. Chris Rimmer and George Clark are to lead. At the starting point, open water from the Wilder Dam provides a possibility of sighting ducks and perhaps an eagle. Other birds will then be sought on a 1.5 mile road walk over fairly level terrain in the nearby village section of Wilder. This walk is free and open to the public. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Bring binoculars if available and dress warmly. In case of steady rain or hazardous driving conditions, the "rain date" for this event is to be Saturday Jan. 29. Road instructions: From Exit 12 off I-91 in Wilder, VT, turn east towards Route 5. On reaching Route 5 (Hartford Avenue), turn left. Continue to the fourth right turn onto Depot Street. Take the next left (onto Norwich Avenue), and then an immediate right going over a wooden bridge to Passumpsic Avenue. At Passumpsic Avenue turn right and continue to the end of the road which is the starting point for this walk. Parking for a limited number of vehicles is available at the starting point, and two other parking lots are along the west side of Passumpsic Ave. George George Clark Norwich VT **************************************************************** To post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] Set your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages.
