Hello. What file format do you use / is your institution moving towards for streaming video? What do your users find most user-friendly for *at home use* ? This is for students to do as homework or in blended programs, not for in-class or even on-campus viewing. It has to be free to play and cross-platform for users' at-home ease-of-use. What format are your departments going with in the near/far future (regardless of what you have been using so far)? Do you have a written policy about that? Currently, we have most videos for language/culture classes streaming from a realserver (password-protected/University-only access to rm files). Some departments are looking to put up large amounts of content, which also would likely be password-protected. It's not 200* anymore, so we have other options available as well. I have my own opinions, and I found some policies at other universities, but not specific to language depts. What are your recommendations on this issue, and why? thanks so much Charity Anne Caldwell Technology Specialist Sandi Port Errant Language and Culture Learning Center http://lclc.uic.edu [log in to unmask] *********************************************** LLTI is a service of IALLT, the International Association for Language Learning (http://iallt.org/), and The Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning (http://www.languageconsortium.org/).
