Great little products (http://www.transcendstore.com/ts8gmp320.html) for only 70 bucks each. They also have a voice recorder, radio, time, multi-language support, and are just as small as a pocket flash drive. In fact, they have a USB interface, and can even be used to lock & secure files with the software that comes with it. We don't really use additional external speakers, as most folks just connect them to USB ports to play the files on the desktop computers in smart classrooms. georges detiveaux language labs, http://cyfair.lonestar.edu/languagelabs french, http://faculty.lonestar.edu/gdetiveaux lone star college-cyfair 9191 barker cypress road, LRNC-212a cypress, tx 77433 tel 281.290.5975 fax 281.290.5282 affiliate rep to actfl, iallt, www.iallt.org sec, socallt, www.socallt.org vp, aatf-houston, http://aatfhouston.blogspot.com -----Original Message----- From: Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of LLTI-Editor Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 12:47 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: #8909 ISO: recommendations for mp3 players + portable speakers --- Forwarded Message from "Janel Brennan-Tillmann" <[log in to unmask]> --- >Reply-To: <[log in to unmask]> >From: "Janel Brennan-Tillmann" <[log in to unmask]> >To: "'Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum'" <[log in to unmask]> >References: <[log in to unmask]> >In-Reply-To: <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: ISO: recommendations for mp3 players + portable speakers >Date: Tue, 12 Aug 2008 14:52:05 -0400 >Organization: University of Maryland >Thread-Index: Acjz/JZcKe0ubvAFTHKkfTphGtMpzwIrNc3w Hello, One of our programs would like to purchase some portable audio players to easily store and play their course audio materials to use in class. It seems to me they would need the player and then a set of portable speakers. Just curious as to what you are all using and what you would recommend. I've heard good things about the iRiver & Creative devices but I am also interested in finding some speakers that will give enough sound for a traditional class of 25-30 students. We do have one set of the JBL on Tour speakers that give a great sound, just wondering if there are other devices we should be looking at that are being used happily on other campuses. Thanks in advance for the info! -Janel -------------- Janel Brennan-Tillmann, Coordinator Language Instructional Technology School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures 3215 Jimenez Hall, College Park MD 20782 301-405-6927 [log in to unmask] http://www.languages.umd.edu *********************************************** LLTI is a service of IALLT, the International Association for Language Learning Technology (http://iallt.org/), and The Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning (http://www.languageconsortium.org/).
