--- Forwarded Message from "Lauersdorf, Mark R" <[log in to unmask]> --- $ACHello all, My thanks first of all to everyone who responded to my query about video conversion tools for PC back in early January: - Mark Kaiser (UC Berkeley) - Ros Adulseranee (Northern Illinois University) - Robert Summers (University at Albany) - Jason Vance (Thomas Nelson Community College) - Kay Yang (University of Chicago) - Birgit Deir (Nazareth College) (My sincerest apologies if I've left anyone off the list of respondents...) I now have a follow-up question about subtitling video files. I'm looking for ways to add subtitles to video in a fashion that is less laborious than the iMovie subtitling interface. I have essentially no experience in this area and would be grateful for any pointers to software (preferably freeware, ideally open source) as well as good technical write-ups (describing the various subtitle extension types [.sub, .srt, .sst, ...], video formats, players, etc.) for subtitling video files. Thanks in advance for anything you can send my direction.
