Bird highlights today (February 21) in Norwich village included a Barred Owl
perched for many minutes this morning in a hemlock tree along Elm Street where
Blue Jays, titmice, and chickadees were conspicuously vocalizing and flying
about in apparent response to the [unusual] presence of the owl in this
residential area. The owl could be well seen, especially with the aid of
binoculars, from inside a vehicle stopped on Elm Street, but not so conspicuous
that most people passing by on the street would have been likely to notice the
bird. I detected the owl only because of the conspicuousness of the passerines
in its vicinity.

Also among bird highlights for today was a flock of at least 10 Bohemian
Waxwings perched this afternoon off Beaver Meadow Road in Norwich village.
