This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, July 5th, 2007. 4 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from the White Mountain National Forest trails on Trudeau Road in Bethlehem on June 29th. A pair of EVENING GROSBEAKS along with 2 fledglings was seen visiting a feeder in Marlborough on June 29th, and a male with 3 fledglings was seen visiting a feeder in Deerfield on July 2nd. 2 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS were reported from Pawtuckaway State Park in Nottingham on June 29th. 5 BICKNELL'S THRUSHES, 2 BOREAL CHICKADEES, and 10 PINE SISKINS were reported from the summit of Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch on June 30th. An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was reported from Willard Pond in Antrim on June 28th. An ORCHARD ORIOLE was seen at Moody Point in Newmarket on July 2nd. A SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROW and a possible NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW were reported from Lubberland Creek in Newmarket on July 1st. A pair of PALM WARBLERS was confirmed as nesting in Effingham, and a single bird was reported from Cedar Brook Farm in Bradford, both on July 1st. This is unusually far south for sightings of this species at this time of year. A PINE WARBLER was photographed in Errol during the past week. This is unusually far north for sightings of this species. 32 PIED-BILLED GREBES were reported from the Brentwood Mitigation Area on July 1st. Also tallied were 34 GREAT BLUE HERONS, 11 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 42 GRAY CATBIRDS, 6 BROWN THRASHERS, 49 YELLOW WARBLERS, 6 PRAIRIE WARBLERS, and 54 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS.
