I was surprised to see a very soggy Hairy woodpecker at my feeder in the pouring rain yesterday. I've never had one at my feeder in the 8 years I've been at this W Leb location. I have had them in Enfield.

What was interesting was that it was there in the torential downpour yesterday afternoon and it was frantically eatting the small seed like it was very starved. It took a while to identify it as it was so waterlogged the feathers where flipped backwards on his head. A starling arrived above it and the Hairy pecked at it's tail but the starling chased it away.
