The Department of French and Italian in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota has an opening for a 100% Teaching Specialist/Lecturer position for the 2007-2008 academic year. This is an annually renewable Professional/Administrative position based on funding and performance. JOB DESCRIPTION: The person selected will be appointed at 100% time for nine months to supervise all sections of first-year French classes during the academic year (approximately 40 sections total), and to teach 4 sections of the same (two per semester). Other duties include syllabus design, test development, observation of instructors, and student advising. QUALIFICATIONS: M.A. degree in French, Foreign Language Education or a related field and two years of college teaching experience is required. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Teaching Specialist (with a Master's degree) or a Lecturer (with the Ph.D.). Persons with strong preparation in pedagogy, curriculum development or second language acquisition will be preferred. Experience or strong interest in technology-enhanced learning is a desirable qualification. SALARY: $39,000 plus health insurance. APPOINTMENT PERIOD: August 27, 2007, through May 25, 2008.
