*Vermont *Statewide 2.5.07 *VT0403.06 This is the Vermont Rare Bird Alert for February 5, 2007 covering the period January 29 - February 4, 2007. Highlights this week include an AMERICAN KESTREL in Addison on 1/29, both a male THREE-TOED WOODPECKER and a female BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER at Moose Bog on 2/3 and a NORTHERN FLICKER in Shelburne on 2/4. RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS were seen in Pownal on 1/31, in Charlotte on 2/1 and in Bridport (2) on 2/4. CAROLINA WREN sightings occurred in East Dorset, Shelburne Point, Randolph, Middlebury (2) and Burlington. There were numerous SNOW BUNTING sightings, with the largest (200) in Danby Four Corners on 1/1. In addition to several WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL observations at Moose Bog, two were spotted on Grand Isle on 2/2.
