There is still some work to be done, particulary with regard to the AppleScript course. ---------------------------------------- [2] APPLESCRIPT...IN FIVE WINTER NIGHTS Warm up to AppleScript this winter on five cold, New England winter nights. In response to several requests for beginner level training and meeting content the Boston AppleScript User Group has arranged with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to hold a five session course for beginners. This course is geared to those who may have never written a line of script or code in their life. This course is free. This course will be delivered in the style of an undgergraduate college course. It will be held on five consecutive Tuesday nights beginning January 30. Again, this course is FREE! Each session will be three hours in length. The course content is based on the book "The AppleScript Handbook" by Danny Goodman. To get the most out of each session you should prepare by reading the portion of the text upon which that evenings lecture is based. The lecture will be supported and supplemented by discussion, questions and answers, as well as additonal supporting examples. The one week interval between each class should be used to develop your understanding of the material covered in the most recent class and prepare for the next class. ---------------------------------------- [3] DATES AND LOCATION The course will held on the following dates: January 30, February 6, 13, 20, and 27. Each session will start at 6:00pm and may run as late as 9:00pm. ROOM: E51-372 (see link to map) <http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg?selection=E51&Buildings=go> Visit The BAUG website for parking and other directions. ---------------------------------------- [4] REGISTRATION Register for this course at the following link: <http://seminars.apple.com/goToEvent.html?id=58921> ---------------------------------------- [5] ADDITIONAL COURSE INFO Visit the BAUG website at <http://www.baug.com> for additional information, course materials, course process outline, etc. This has not yet been posted. ---------------------------------------- [6] NEW MEETING FORMAT FOR 2007 Beginning with our January meeting we will be changing our primary meeting format to all scripting, all the time. We will select ideas for scripts and develop them, possibly for release as freeware. This will give participants an opportunity to see their brilliant idea grow from "proof of concept" through a seemingly endless list of bugs, gotchas, and user requests and complaints to a robust AppleScript solution. Pheew! I'm glad that's over with. In order to be productive we will likely work on these scripts between meetings. The BAUG website will provide for a members only area to login and join in on the fun. If this interests you and/or you are not currently a BAUG member and you wish to participate you will need to attend a meeting to get the login.
