ASIA CULTURE ACADEMY FELLOW, KOREA

Asia Culture Academy (ACA), Korea, invites applications for the positions of Asia Culture Academy Fellow in the latter half of 2006. We seek 5~10 individuals with interests in culture and technology with doctoral degree and/or relevant research and teaching experiences. Fellows can have diverse backgrounds in social sciences and humanities with English proficiency. The fellowship is for a period of one to six months depending on the arrangement of each applicant. Fellows will be based in the city of Gwangju during the program period. The ACA will cover roundtrip airfare (economy), studio accommodation, and living expenses of US$1,000~1,200 per month. Fellows are expected to produce a few lectures and a paper, which will be published as a book chapter at the end of the year, during their stay in the program, and also to participate in colloquia and seminars. Fellows may choose their period of stay between August 15 and December 31, 2006, but are strongly encouraged to stay the full period or more than two months. As the program intends empowerment of Asian scholars, applicants with Asia-related background may receive preferable consideration. Applicants should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, a brief description on research plan, evidence of research and teaching experience. A letter of recommendation is also invited, but not required. All materials should be received by July 15, 2006. Early application will find favorable consideration. ASIA CULTURE ACADEMY YOUTH WORKSHOP, KOREA

Asia Culture Academy (ACA), Korea, invites applications for the first Youth Workshop Program on September 15~November 15, 2006. The Institute aims to provide cultural education for young Asians and non-Asians interested in Asia to promote knowledge on diverse Asian cultures and intercultural understanding. The institute provides education programs and accommodation (studio, shared house, or dormitory) to all participants with no charge. Participants will also receive monthly living expenses of US$500 per month, but the participants should cover their own transportation cost. Applicants with strong merits may apply for travel scholarships. Some selection criteria include the following: Applicants should demonstrate good academic qualification with proficiency in English. They must have the ability to articulate their views in English and comprehend lectures delivered in English. Applicants should not be less than 20 years and more than 30 years old, and should preferably be college graduates or senior students. The Youth Workshop consists of academic and cultural programs. Lectures for academic program are given highly regarded academics and experts from universities, governments, and research institutes. To complement the academic program, the Youth Workshop offers social and cultural program that allows participants to have hands-on experience on diverse aspects of cultural life of the host country.
