SALARY: $3,915 - $4,584 mo. Commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will develop, manage, and coordinate programs and supervise student assistants and consultants of the Language Acquisition Resource Center (LARC). Oversee the operations of the LARC Multimedia Laboratory assuring that the language lab is properly equipped and staffed in keeping with the pace of emerging technologies and research. Train faculty and teaching assistants in the use of lab technologies for class instruction. Conduct workshops and individual instruction sessions with staff. Provide support to foreign language testing projects. Provide technical advice and expertise in the evaluation, purchase, upgrade, and maintenance of software and hardware. Administer databases and ensure that data sources are accurate and accessible to the user community. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of IT systems and applications including campus-wide systems and multimedia environments, access procedures, networks and databases. Knowledge of data administration and network administration. Knowledge of training practices. Knowledge of statistical and/or research databases. Knowledge of system utilities, features, installation, and maintenance procedures. Knowledge of instructional design theories and methodologies. Demonstrated knowledge of lab and database management, distance education, and other distributed educational practices and technology. Proficiency using standard software packages. Familiarity with basic software programs used by faculty in teaching foreign languages. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent supervisory and organizational skills. Ability to integrate multiple applications/systems. Ability to analyze data requirements and research data availability and access methods. Ability to coordinate and implement data exchanges and conversions. Ability to develop and deliver technical training and user documentation. Ability to identify, develop and coordinate plans for use of site resources. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot system connection and interface malfunctions. Ability to provide software development and programming support for instructional applications. Ability to supervise student workers. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Masters degree or Ph.D. in Language Acquisition, Educational Technology, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Language Testing and Measurement, or a Modern Foreign Language is preferred. A minimum of two years of related work experience in a University setting is required. Proficiency in at least one foreign language, teaching experience and research or work experience in the field of Computer-Assisted Language Learning or Technology Enhanced Language Learning is preferred. Experience in or knowledge of dynamic database system management preferred. Experience in designing, developing, and presenting faculty development seminars and workshops preferred.
