Our Chinese program wanted to give students access to digital audio for the textbook series A New China within a password-protected, streaming environment, and submitted a request to that effect. The response from the press was the following: "No, I'm afraid we can't approve that use. Since the books and tapes are in-print and still available through regular channels, we cannot authorize reproducing the tapes in their entirety." I am going to follow up with the individual who sent us this reply, because I don't think she understands what we're asking, but would like to know about the experience of others on the list with this particular publisher. Thanks, Samantha *********************************************** LLTI is a service of IALLT, the International Association for Language Learning, and The Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning (http://consortium.dartmouth.edu).
