We have had them for several months now and they are holding up well so far. They have three plugs, one for headphones, one for a microphone, and another for an external speaker options. We have them fixed on the tables where students can plug in a microphone or a headset. Central Piedmont Comm. College has 6 campuses now, all with "drop in" language lab services....We are seriously considering having students bring in their own headsets...selling them at the bookstore and possibly even packaging a lightweight model with the texts. We think this will be more sanitary, less costly and more practical for us. I know this is done at Seneca College in Canada and perhaps in several other Labs? Seneca ordered their computers with the extension boxes preinstalled. We did not do this so need to figure out where to purchase (or how to create) extension boxes for headset plug-in in the front of the computer so that students are not crawling around the back to plug in. Our IT department has not found a dealer for this type of thing....but might put something together that would work.....Does anyone out there have any experience with creating or locating such a device? Thanks for your suggestions....
