For cost reasons, we had briefly considered an LCD panel, which would have required an overhead projector, but after some research, we decided that a good projector would provide a better return in the long run. The LCD panels' reputation for short life spans was a major factor, as were convenience, brightness and sharpness. We plan to have the projector mounted on the ceiling and will use the remote for its operation. We'll also feed a VCR into it for film viewing. The Sharp we bought came from Troxell, 1-800-352-7912, on special at about $3,000 (retail about $4,500, if I recall). We use it on a Mac. The instructors who teach computer methods classes (keyboarding, word processing, email, web) in our ESL program love it. I've used it for workshops for the faculty with great success. I can send you a pdf of the manual if you'd like. -- Patrick Foster Interim Director Modern Languages Learning Center Eastern Washington University Cheney, Washington 99004
