Weekly Meeting:

Unions and The Worker’s Choice

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24. 7 PM. CARSON 60.

OPEN TO CAMPUS

President Joe Biden has proudly positioned himself as the most pro-union president since Franklin D. Roosevelt. Indeed, during his administration, the American economy has seen a measurable bump in the number of workers in unions and the number of union petition filings. Biden and many of his endorsers claim that these unions help bring dignity and the say of laborers to workplaces where corporate power has grown out of control. Opponents see unions as a suck on the productivity of the economy and the bank account of members, who pay dues to national organizations that don’t do anything but peddle cheap talking points. With union membership again on the rise, what are the merits or drawbacks of union membership for workers and our economy?
