Dear Pre-Health Students at Dartmouth:

Hello! My name is Nicole, and I will be starting as one of your new Assistant Deans of Pre-Health Advising. I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve in this role and eager to get started and meet all of you!

A little background information about me~ I grew up in the Metro Detroit area of Michigan (go Redwings!). While obtaining my Master's in Exercise Physiology at Oakland University, I held a graduate teaching assistant position. Looking back, I am so grateful for this position because it sparked my passion for teaching and working with undergraduate students.

After I graduated, I worked for a managed care organization servicing Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries. While I enjoyed my various roles in this industry, I longed to return to academia. I was thrilled when I accepted a Health Professions Coordinator position at Michigan Technological University in 2017, where I could serve as the pre-health advisor and teach undergraduate pre-health courses. Since then, I have developed and expanded the pre-health program at MTU, becoming the Director of Pre-Health Professions in 2021. I have absolutely loved my time here - not only is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan gorgeous, but I also had the privilege of working with the most amazing students. I will miss them all dearly, but I am also very excited to continue this work with all of you! I have learned throughout my career journey that I find so much joy in being able to help advise, support, and advocate for students who will not only be future healthcare professionals but future leaders in the healthcare field. In addition, providing a comfortable, supportive, and inclusive space to meet with you all is of the utmost importance to me!

Apart from my work experience, my other passions include hiking (so excited to explore New Hampshire and Vermont!), reading, traveling, and live music. My husband and I have a dog (Leo, a lab/pit mix), and I know he will love his new home with endless hiking trails and many dog parks!

Looking forward to starting on your beautiful campus on May 1st! I can't wait to start working with you all.

Thank you,

Nicole Roeper
