Do you love the outdoors?

Do you want to go on an Adventure?

WELL. WE HAVE SOME FUNDS THAT MAY HELP YOU GET GOING!

(This is a long email, but it has all the funds at once, so enjoy!)

THE FUNDS THROUGH THE DOC THIS FALL:

-Schlitz Fund-

The fund for that fun adventure with your friends

The Wolfgang Schlitz Adventure Fund was established in the summer of 2003 as an investment in the future of the Dartmouth Outing Club.  It is intended to encourage DOC Members to:

  • Plan outdoor adventures that reflect the mission of the club
  • Execute said adventures
  • Return to the club with new skills and experiences to share that will benefit and advance the Dartmouth Outing Club and its members.

The Fund is not intended to cover all expenses of a trip but instead to alleviate costs so that it is attainable to those that wish to participate.

Past trips have included:
    Backpacking in Peru

    Biking in Nova Scotia

    Mountaineering on El Capitan

    Trekking in Nepal

    ...and many more!

-Chris Vale Expedition Fund-

The Fund for that Once-in-a-Lifetime, Boundary-Pushing Expedition

This coming fall, the DOC will again award $5,000 from the Chris Vale '18 Expedition Fund with the purpose of sending outdoor adventurers to pursue explorative and expeditionary efforts far afield. Chris, for whom the fund is named, epitomized turning outdoor fantasies into realities through his adventurous spirit, passion, and drive. His loss still reverberates through the Outing Club community, reminding us to pursue dreams with the same devotion and excitement as he did every day.

So far, the 2016 Expedition Fund award allowed Gabe Boning '18, and David Bain '17 to travel to Alaska, where they are currently exploring remote alpine climbs deep in the Brooks Range. They are currently based out of a remote camp in the Brooks, as they attempt to establish first ascents of 4,000 ft granite walls.
