How are the financial system and economy linked? The financial crisis of 2007-08 caused a severe recession in which millions of Americans lost their jobs and homes; the subsequent recovery from that crisis has been painfully slow. The panelists in this symposium will relay key elements of this financial relationship and discuss recent and prospective changes in the supervision and regulation of the financial system. How can we mitigate systemic risks and promote sustainable and equitable economic growth?
