Join People of Color in the Outdoors (POCO) for a hike this weekend!
What is POCO?
Ever wonder why the majority of people in outdoorsy media seem to be white? So do we. The DOC in many ways mirrors this societal phenomenon, and something about that feels off. Much like Women in the Wilderness, POCO will function as a community where anyone can go on trips but leaders will be people of color. Over meals, hikes, paddles and more, we hope to carve out a chunk of the DOC for those who have been traditionally underrepresented in its spaces.
This Saturday 6/15, we will be hiking Mt. Cardigan- an easy, four mile round trip hike with great views, great snacks, and great company. We will leave campus at 11am and return by 4pm. The cost of the hike will be $3 for DOC members and $5 for not-yet-DOC members.
