HEY CAMPUS!

Wanna spend your summer in places like this?

For those who we know well: Welcome Back! This should be a term full of wild adventures, awesome views and lots of sleeping outside.

For those who we know less well: If you’ve ever wanted to explore the beauty and adventure held within the lovely wilderness surrounding us, your time has come! Join the DOC throughout the summer as we hike, swim, climb, paddle, bike, fish, sit, eat, stargaze our way through 16X.

People of Color in the Outdoors (aka POCO)
Schedule Coming Soon
Ever wonder why the majority of people in outdoorsy media seem to be white? So do we. The DOC in many ways mirrors this societal phenomenon, and something about that feels off. Much like Women in the Wilderness, POCO will function as a community where anyone can go on trips but leaders will be people of color. Over meals, hikes, paddles and more, we hope to carve out a chunk of the DOC for those who have been traditionally underrepresented in its spaces. “This Week in the DOC” Blitzes
In your inbox, every Wednesday ;)
There will be opportunities to do a variety of activities every week, from beginner levels to more advanced ones. Keeping track of each sub club’s opportunities can be hard, so look for this little summary for easy sign up info.

Dinertoure
Wednesday Mornings
What is Dinertoure, you ask? There is no better way to sum it up than:

"[Dinertoure is a] weekly ritual of waking up approximately the same time as the sun in order to drive for more/less twenty minutes to ask ourselves who really IS the eggs benedict authority of the upper valley... Like a new years resolution, at the beginning of the term you promised yourself you would try new things, say yes more, go on adventures, get off campus; maybe you have a bucket list or detailed minute-by-minute itinerary of activities to ensure your sophomore summer will truly live up to the hype. Also like a new years resolution, theres a very good chance your dreams will fall flat and you will not complete all of the merry fun-filled activities you had hoped for. Quite unfortunate. However, you can go on Dinertoure (woo) and that is one large step in the direction of joy. What can Dinertoure do for me? you might ask. Well, young one, we must ask ourselves NOT what Dinertoure can do for us, but what we can do for Dinertoure. Wisely consider your options."

Moosilauke Ravine Lodge Farewell Events
July 16th, and All Summer
Due to structural instability, our beloved Moosilauke Ravine Lodge will be rebuilt over the coming year. The goal is for construction to begin directly after 2016 Freshman Trips, and for it to be finished by mid-August 2017. The 18’s are lucky enough to be the last class to enjoy our historic lodge, so be sure to take advantage of it this summer. The night of the 16th the DOC Directorate will be speaking about what the lodge has meant to us throughout the years— look for a blitz this week to sign up. You can also go up for dinner any night for $8, stay overnight (with dinner) for $19, and buy an unlimited termly pass for $40.

Lodge Prom
August 16th
On this Tuesday evening, DOC and Non-DOC folk alike will clean up for a fun evening of dinner, dancing, and fun at the Moosilauke Ravile Lodge! Guaranteed to be an evening you won’t forget.

Financial Aid
Is available for any DOC trip or event! Depending on your situation, you can get up to 30, 50 or 70% of the cost of your adventure reduced. For more information, check our website: http://outdoors-dev.dartmouth.edu/opo/finaid.html, or blitz [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
